VMAT(AW)-202 Twilight Tour patch

Commissioned 15 January 1968 at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, VMAT(AW)-202 was the East Coast schoolhouse that turned pilots and bombardier/navigators into Grumman A-6 Intruder crews, first in the A-6A and later the A-6E, with TC-4C Academe trainers standing in for the jet's radar suite. Nearly two decades and thousands of graduates later the Double Eagles were disestablished on 30 September 1986, their mission passed to the Navy's VA-128. This sunset patch marks that ending: an Intruder silhouetted against a darkening sky above a spiral-banded Carolina lighthouse, the squadron's 1968-1986 lifespan flanking the last flight.
