VMAQT-1 "Banshees" — Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Training Squadron 1 · USMC · 2013-2016

Worn by a Marine who served the squadron's entire life as a training command, this patch marks VMAQT-1's detachments to NAS Key West, where Prowler crews chased the open overwater ranges and clear flying weather that made the Keys one of naval aviation's most coveted det sites. The signpost tells the whole story: KNKT for home field at MCAS Cherry Point, DUVAL for the street the crews found after hours, and CUBA for the coastline ninety miles over the horizon that gave the electronic-warfare mission its edge. "Conch Leictreacha" — roughly "Electric Conch" — weds the Conch Republic to the Banshees' Gaelic naming tradition, and the ball-cap skeleton in a flowered shirt with a fishing rod needs no translation at all. VMAQT-1 was redesignated from VMAQ-1 on 14 June 2013 to train every replacement Marine EA-6B pilot and ECMO, and stood down at Cherry Point on 29 April 2016 as the Prowler wound toward retirement.
