A sunset patch worn as the Marine Corps' last electronic attack squadron closed the book on the EA-6B Prowler. VMAQ-2 traced its line to VMCJ-2, redesignated Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron 2 in 1975, and spent the next four decades jamming enemy radars from Desert Storm through Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria — its final combat deployment flying six jets out of Al Udeid, Qatar, and home to MCAS Cherry Point in November 2018. The Prowler planform and four lightning bolts stand in for the mission itself: the electromagnetic spectrum, owned. The squadron flew its last flights on 28 February 2019 and deactivated on 8 March 2019, retiring the Prowler from U.S. military service.
