Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367, the "Scarface," traces its snake-fanged lineage to the Vietnam War, when Major Bill Murphy popularized the fearsome radio call sign that supplanted the squadron's earlier "Oakgate" in 1967. Flying AH-1Z Vipers and UH-1Y Venoms, the unit relocated to Marine Corps Base Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, in 2012, where its coiled viper adopted a Santa hat and the greeting "Mele Kalikimaka"—Hawaiian for Merry Christmas. This festive variant of the squadron's iconic emblem marks the holidays in the Pacific, wreathed in holly and the reptilian menace that has terrorized enemy armor from Desert Storm to Afghanistan.
