Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 2 is the headquarters element of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing at MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, commissioned 31 December 1955 as Marine Wing Headquarters Group 2 and redesignated MWHS-2 on 1 July 1971. The squadron provides the command, administrative, and communications backbone for the wing, deploying first to Al Asad Airbase in Al Anbar Province in February 2005 and again through the Iraq rotations of 2007-2009. This "Paladins" design carries the serpent-and-sword of the squadron's older "Snake Eyes" emblem onto a shield bearing the Roman numeral II for the wing it serves. SSgt Sally received this new patch as a gift at the 2024 MCAS Cherry Point Air Show, the wing's biennial hometown open house, headlined that May by the Blue Angels.
