MAG-14 Intelligence
Marine Aircraft Group 14 (MAG-14), S-2 Intelligence Section, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing · USMC · 2023
Designed and commissioned in 2023 by the Marines of the MAG-14 S-2 shop at MCAS Cherry Point, this patch sets the group's diamond-and-eagle device against a night-black field ringed by the five stars of the Southern Cross. The constellation is a deliberate tribute to the aviators who pushed the fight and steered by Crux as their compass when the instruments failed — a nod that runs straight back to the group's own beginnings, when MAG-14 flew into Guadalcanal in October 1942 to reinforce the Cactus Air Force and then fought on from Munda, Ondonga, Vella Lavella and the Green Islands over New Georgia, Bougainville and Rabaul. Eighty years on, the intelligence section that feeds the group's Harriers, F-35s and KC-130s wears the same stars that guided those first crews home.
