Made by and for the operators of Foxtrot Crew, 4th Space Operations Squadron at Schriever Space Force Base, this morale patch marks the crew that stood watch over four military SATCOM constellations — Milstar, Advanced Extremely High Frequency, Defense Satellite Communications System III, and Wideband Global SATCOM — which together carried some 90 percent of Department of Defense operational traffic and served seven allied nations. The gridded globe and EHF command antenna are the day job: telemetry, tracking, and commanding for satellites that give warfighters secure, survivable communications from peacetime through the full spectrum of conflict. The llama and the can of Diet Mountain Dew are the night shift: crew-room fuel and crew-room humor, capped by the SpongeBob-derived motto operators bent to fit their own letter — "F is 4 friends." It is a patch about a small crew keeping a very large constellation talking, on midnight ops and caffeine.
