335th Fighter Squadron "Chiefs", 4th Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson AFB, NC · USAF · 2023

The Chiefs' warbonneted chief's head descends directly from No. 121 Squadron RAF, the second of three Eagle Squadrons of American volunteers formed in May 1941 before the United States entered the war; the emblem has followed the squadron through the F-100, F-105, and F-4 to the F-15E Strike Eagle it has flown since March 1990. This patch was gifted in 2023 to SSgt Sally by a Chiefs pilot in thanks for her assistance during a joint exercise with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 542 at MCAS Cherry Point. That summer the 335th flew Strike Eagles over Cherry Point during Exercise Razor Talon 23-1, an agile combat employment exercise launched from Seymour Johnson on 24 July 2023, while VMFA-542 was still standing up on the F-35B it had received only weeks earlier on 31 May.
